Senior AI Engineer (Java)

TL;DR

Senior AI Engineer (Java): Design and develop AI-enabled software components and integrate advanced AI models into production systems with an accent on scalability and robustness. Focus on implementing LLMs, Generative AI, and cloud-native AWS applications.

Location: Adelaide, SA (Fully Onsite). Maximum one WFH day per week. Australian Citizenship and eligibility for NV1 Security Clearance are required.

Salary: 130k–150k AUD (including Super)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test AI-enabled software components using Java.
• Integrate and deploy advanced AI models and Generative AI into production systems.
• Collaborate with Data Science and DevOps teams to build scalable AI capabilities.
• Develop cloud-native applications and data storage solutions within AWS.
• Build and maintain production-ready APIs.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead small technical teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial AI engineering experience (8 years ideal).
• Strong professional background in Java development.
• Experience integrating LLMs and Generative AI into production software.
• Experience delivering large-scale software solutions.
• Solid understanding of machine learning and neural networks.
• Australian Citizenship with eligibility for NV1 Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Framework.
• Knowledge of React or Angular.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Experience in Defence, Government, or Intelligence domains.
