Game Designer

TL;DR

Game Designer: Creating high-quality gameplay experiences and core game features with an accent on 3D layout, scripting, and level design. Focus on championing design direction, collaborating across disciplines, and iterating on gameplay moments to deliver engaging console titles.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Vancouver, Canada. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the studio after an initial 3-month full-time in-studio period.

Salary: $67,000 - $85,000 CAD annually.

What you will do

• Create gameplay moments that guide players through fun experiences.
• Collaborate with the Game Director to champion the project's design direction.
• Design and build levels for level-based games with a focus on simplicity and clarity.
• Take ownership of core game features from conception to completion.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development tools and processes.
• Foster a highly iterative and collaborative environment across all disciplines.

Requirements

• Must have work eligibility in Canada.
• Shipped at least one game, preferably with console experience.
• High proficiency in programming or scripting, specifically for gameplay and enemy encounters.
• Strong layout skills with an understanding of how 3D spaces impact gameplay.
• Proficiency in 3D layout programs such as Maya, Unreal, or Unity.
• Experience in all phases of game development across multiple projects or genres.
