TL;DR

Optomechanical Integration & Test Engineer: Own end-to-end optical test stands and measurement campaigns for tracker hardware with an accent on precision alignment, radiometry/thermal power measurement, and uncertainty-quantified results. Focus on building agent-ready test infrastructure in Python and closing the loop between raytrace simulation and measured optical performance under real outdoor conditions.

Company

hirify.global builds clean, modular power systems for the AI energy era, including a P3 system that captures solar energy and delivers electricity on demand.

What you will do

  • Own optical test stands end to end: indoor characterization benches, high-flux test facility, and outdoor on-sun stands (CAD/fixtures/instrumentation/commissioning/operation).
  • Design and run test campaigns from hypothesis to conclusion, including test plans, data capture, uncertainty quantification, and results that drive design decisions.
  • Characterize optical components and assemblies (alignment verification, focal/flux measurements, camera-based flux mapping, radiometry and thermal power measurement, reflectance/transmittance).
  • Develop precision alignment procedures and tooling for optical assemblies on tracker platforms; verify pointing and tracking accuracy in the field.
  • Select, mount, wire, calibrate instrumentation and integrate into DAQ systems; automate tests in Python (instrument control, data reduction, analysis pipelines, plots/reports).
  • Make test infrastructure agent-ready and close the loop between simulation and hardware by root-causing discrepancies between measured performance and raytrace predictions.

Requirements

  • Location: Based in Miami, FL; relocation to Miami, FL is required if selected.
  • BS or MS in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on laboratory/test/integration experience with optical or precision hardware (graduate research and substantial internships count).
  • Hands-on optical bench experience (mounting, aligning, characterizing optics) and strong measurement discipline (calibration, uncertainty, variable control).
  • Instrumentation fundamentals (sensor selection, signal conditioning, calibration, DAQ integration) and Python for test automation/data analysis (e.g., numpy/pandas, publication-quality plots).
  • Comfort with both bench and field work, including outdoor work in Miami heat for extended periods; ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work around concentrated light with appropriate PPE.

Culture & Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and retirement plans.
  • Competitive salary and equity options.
  • Relocation assistance.
  • AI-native workflow: Python-based automation and AI agents used to run and monitor tests.
  • Real ownership with senior engineers reviewing work closely and pushing for fast growth.

Hiring process

  • Interviews include probing measurement fundamentals and reviewing how work is done with AI coding agents.
  • Final hiring decisions are made by humans.
