What you will do

• Design and build optomechanical assemblies including optic mounts, frames, and alignment features from concept to hardware.
• Assemble prototypes and test articles, performing hands-on alignment and troubleshooting at the bench.
• Support test stand commissioning, including sensor mounting, wiring, and DAQ integration.
• Troubleshoot electromechanical systems using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and Python debuggers.
• Drive scripting and documentation using AI coding agents to enable overnight simulation and test campaigns.
• Develop drawing packages with GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analyses.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Must be based in or relocate to Miami, FL.
• 1+ years of hands-on hardware build or design experience (internships, projects, or research).
• Proficiency in parametric CAD tools like PTC Creo or SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and first-principles physics.
• Fluency with AI coding agents as a daily engineering tool.
• Ability to work outdoors in Miami heat and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical or precision mechanical hardware alignment.
• Knowledge of motion components, bearings, and actuators.
• Experience with FEA packages like ANSYS or SAP2000.
• Scripting skills in Python or MATLAB.
• Background in solar energy, heliostats, or large-scale renewable infrastructure.
