Senior Process Engineer (Optics)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work on the fabrication floor. Candidates must be work authorized in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future and legally authorized to access applicable controlled technology.

What you will do

• Own functional testing and inspection processes across automated and manual operations.
• Define and optimize process parameters, process windows, capability targets, tooling, fixturing, and control strategies.
• Improve output, yield, quality, and First Pass Yield through stable and predictable process behavior.
• Lead qualification of new fixtures, tools, software, manual processes, and machine upgrades.
• Analyze process data to identify variation, drift, and chronic stability risks using statistical methods.
• Collaborate with production, quality, equipment engineering, maintenance, and cross-factory teams on immediate support and long-term improvements.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in optical fabrication, functional testing, and inspection.
• Experience with tooling mechanics, inspection methods, functional testing methods, and process development.
• Experience with structured problem solving, data analysis, root-cause analysis, and process improvement.
• Proficiency with manual and automated testing and inspection tools, including spectrometry equipment.
• Experience with JMP, Minitab, or equivalent statistical software, plus demonstrated 6P readiness and verification-driven corrective action.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrical, pressure, and hardness testing equipment.
• Strong cross-functional leadership in a production environment.
