Software Development Engineer in Test (Machine Learning)

Location: Hybrid in Foster City, CA

Salary: $180,000 – $225,000 per year (Base)

What you will do

• Design and optimize ML/DL algorithms to automate test and triage workflows using large-scale data.
• Build and deploy agentic LLM systems (e.g., Claude, Gemini) from prototype to production.
• Manage and monitor multiple production pipelines on platforms like Databricks and AWS.
• Collaborate with data science, ML, autonomous drive planning, and QA stakeholders to refine system behavior analysis.
• Develop monitoring tools to iteratively improve algorithms based on production data.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's in a STEM field with 4+ years of experience in Triage, Performance Analytics, ML, NLP, or deep learning.
• Strong Python proficiency and productionization/CI/CD experience for medium to large projects.
• Hands-on experience with RAG, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or HuggingFace.
• Professional experience building agentic LLM systems with large datasets.
• Experience operating production pipelines on AWS and Databricks, including troubleshooting production issues.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Foster City, CA

Nice to have

• Experience with self-correcting models or installation and maintenance of LLMs.
• Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Looker, Dash, or Databricks Dashboards.
• Background in autonomous driving, robotics, or large-scale performance monitoring.
