What you will do
- Define the technical architecture and roadmap for the offline 3D reconstruction system.
- Lead the development of MVPs to unblock high-priority internal use cases.
- Establish core technical interfaces, output representations, and tools for internal customers.
- Partner with calibration, sensor fusion, perception, and infrastructure teams to align requirements.
- Set technical standards for reconstruction quality, failure analysis, and uncertainty measurement.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to engineers contributing to the 3D reconstruction effort.
Requirements
- Deep technical expertise in SLAM, 3D reconstruction, mapping, or state estimation.
- Strong hands-on experience with lidar-based reconstruction, point-cloud registration, and pose estimation.
- Strong software engineering skills in C++, Python, or similar robotics environments.
- Experience taking research or prototype algorithms into reliable production systems.
- Ability to define technical strategy and roadmaps in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Must be based in or able to work in a hybrid setup in Sunnyvale, California.
Nice to have
- MS/PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, State Estimation, or a related technical field.
- Experience with GNSS/INS fusion or other high-accuracy position estimation approaches.
- Experience with nonlinear optimization techniques (pose graph optimization, factor graphs, ICP).
- Application of modern ML and foundation models to 3D reconstruction or scene understanding.
- Familiarity with robotics tooling such as ROS, PCL, OpenCV, or CUDA.
