What you will do

• Act as the lead analyst/programmer for bioinformatics data analysis and software development projects.
• Design and implement data management and relational database solutions for efficient storage and retrieval of research results.
• Develop and monitor effective quality control processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory outcomes.
• Conduct bioinformatic and statistical analysis and interpretation of DNA and RNA sequencing data.
• Collaborate with technical groups and stakeholders to coordinate system installation and ensure technical compatibility.
• Write and maintain comprehensive systems documentation, including user and technical manuals.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of related bioinformatics experience.
• Proficiency in Linux/UNIX operating systems and scripting in Python, R, and Bash.
• Experience with high-performance computing (HPC), job schedulers (PBS Pro, SLURM), or cloud computing systems.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite at the hirify.global Vancouver Campus.

Nice to have

• Experience with C/C++, Java, or RDBMS systems like MySQL or Oracle.
• Knowledge of continuous integration systems such as Bamboo, Jenkins, or OpenShift.
• Familiarity with web application configuration using PHP, Tomcat, and Apache.
• Experience in biological research areas such as human genetics, microbial ecology, or immunology.
• Knowledge of software architecture and design (e.g., UML).
