What you will do

• Set the technical direction for the Lakebase Manager (LBM) team and own the quality and reliability of the shipped product.
• Drive architecture and design while writing production code for the most complex and high-risk components.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high technical standards through rigorous design and code reviews.
• Define SLIs and meet SLOs to drive long-term reliability improvements across the database lifecycle.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and align with partner teams on dependencies to unblock cross-cutting projects.
• Partner with product leadership to shape and deliver a long-term technical roadmap.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor, influencing architecture and direction.
• Deep hands-on experience writing production code for reliability-critical, highly available services.
• Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, and HA/failover mechanisms.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, or a similar systems language.
• BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field.

• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
