ML Engineer (Routing)

Location: Worldwide; fully remote, office-based, or hybrid work options are available.

Salary: €2,800–€4,550 gross per month. Final compensation depends on experience, location, and professional growth.

What you will do

• Design and build machine learning models for ETA correction, routing optimization, traffic estimation, and real-world prediction.
• Process large-scale GPS and geospatial data, including map-matching, spatial aggregation, road-level speeds, and historical traffic profiles.
• Improve ETA calculation, smoothing, and rerouting logic under changing traffic and map conditions.
• Define ML objectives, proxy metrics, loss functions, and offline and online evaluation methods, including shadow tests and switchbacks.
• Partner with backend, product, and operations teams to deploy low-latency models and translate routing analysis into product features.
• Own production ML operations, including serving, drift monitoring, retraining pipelines, and lifecycle management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of machine learning experience, including 3+ years building and deploying deep learning models in production.
• Experience with regression, forecasting, or other supervised machine learning systems for real-world prediction problems.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark.
• Advanced SQL, distributed data processing, gradient boosting frameworks, and low-latency ML services.
• Ability to design an ML system from data analysis and feature engineering through production model serving, with experience in MLOps, monitoring, and retraining.
• English: Upper-Intermediate or above.

Nice to have

• Expertise in ETA or travel-time prediction, traffic estimation, or routing-engine quality.
• Experience with Valhalla, OSRM, GraphHopper, map-matching, speed profiles, road-graph tiles, or historical traffic.
• Background in mapping, location, geospatial products, or developing markets with limited map and address data.
• Experience with BigQuery, Databricks, or distributed deep-learning training.
