TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer (Identity): Building backend APIs and authentication flows for Stytch’s identity platform as it scales across Twilio’s customer base, with an accent on RESTful API design, secure identity experiences, and high-scale cloud systems. Focus on designing developer-first identity capabilities, solving complex platform and reliability challenges, and delivering production systems for authentication, authorization, and non-human identity use cases.

Location: Remote - US; occasional travel and ad-hoc in-person team, customer, or project meetings may be required.

Salary: $141,520–$176,900 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.; $149,840–$187,300 in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, and California outside the San Francisco Bay Area; $166,400–$208,000 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Equity and bonus plan eligibility may also apply.

What you will do

  • Build and own backend capabilities for Stytch’s identity platform within Twilio.
  • Develop API surfaces and authentication flows for authentication, authorization, agentic identity, and non-human identity use cases.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to translate customer needs into roadmap features.
  • Collaborate across Twilio and Stytch on architecture, platform integration, and cross-team initiatives.
  • Write design documents, make technical decisions, review code, and mentor engineers.
  • Improve production quality through observability, incident response, remediation, and resilient system design.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience designing, building, and operating high-scale, mission-critical cloud production systems.
  • Experience with a production-grade codebase in a modern programming language and high-quality coding standards.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Availability for non-standard hours, including an on-call rotation covering weekends and holidays.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Go, TypeScript, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience building developer tools or SDKs.
  • Experience building and owning products used by paying customers.
  • Hands-on builder mindset demonstrated through professional or personal projects.
