Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco or remote within the United States; on-site role

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 for L4 Mid-level; $220,000–$350,000 for L5 Senior, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and operate multi-tenant systems for enterprise customers.
• Design APIs, data models, migrations, and distributed workflows.
• Develop identity and access capabilities across SSO, SCIM, RBAC, and policy enforcement.
• Build auditability, privacy controls, and secure foundations for customer data.
• Turn urgent customer and deal-blocking requirements into reusable product capabilities.
• Own systems through rollout, observability, and production operation.

Requirements

• Production experience operating multi-tenant B2B or enterprise software.
• Strong backend fundamentals across data, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with enterprise identity, permissions, or audit systems.
• Ownership of important customer and business outcomes.
• Thoroughness under pressure and ability to handle sensitive production changes responsibly.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in voice or machine learning is not required.
• Experience with every enterprise identity standard is not required.
