Location: Must be based in or able to commute to San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: Mon-Thu in-office).

Salary: $160,000 – $220,000

What you will do

• Transform ambiguous operational challenges into well-posed optimization, forecasting, or simulation tasks.
• Develop and deploy solutions across operations research and machine learning to improve clinician utilization and patient access.
• Design offline evaluations, backtests, and live experiments to measure real-world operational impact.
• Collaborate with engineering to productionize decision systems and ensure reliability.
• Partner with operations and product stakeholders to validate assumptions and communicate model tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Strong foundations in operations research, optimization, and experimental design.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, including standard optimization and ML libraries.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into actionable technical tasks and analyze related literature.
• Experience with AI coding assistants like Claude Code or Cursor.
• Must be able to work from the San Francisco office Monday through Thursday.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in a quantitative field such as operations research, industrial engineering, or applied math.
• Experience with vehicle routing, scheduling, stochastic optimization, or queueing theory.
• Hands-on experience with supply-and-demand matching in marketplace or field-operations settings.
• Proven track record of shipping optimization systems to production.
