Site Reliability Engineer ll

Location: United States; not eligible for hire in California. Fully remote with approximately 5% travel, including possible travel to Boston, Massachusetts for onboarding and occasional in-person meetings and company events.

Salary: $100,000–$110,000 annually, plus benefits and bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Operate AWS-hosted MERN applications and backend data architectures for availability, scalability, and security.
• Manage and optimize AWS Lambda and other event-driven architectures, including cold starts, memory allocation, and execution timeouts.
• Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled PySpark data workflows, large-scale ingestion, ETL processes, queues, and stream-processing systems.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to diagnose and mitigate application outages and data pipeline bottlenecks.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, data seeding, and PySpark pipeline recovery to reduce operational toil.
• Build observability dashboards and alerts, lead blameless post-mortems, and implement permanent reliability improvements.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience operating multi-tenant, cloud-hosted, or cloud-native SaaS platforms at scale.
• Deep AWS expertise, including Lambda, ECS/EKS, EMR or Glue, EC2, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Professional experience with Python, PySpark APIs, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript runtimes, and automation tooling.
• Experience with distributed data orchestration, ETL, message queues, stream processing, production MySQL, Athena, and database optimization.
• Experience deploying immutable infrastructure with Terraform or OpenTofu.
• At least 1 year of experience in HIPAA-regulated environments, plus a minimum of 4 years of software or systems experience.
