Applications Scientist (Environmental and Food Testing)

Location: Onsite in Salem, NH, with approximately 25–50% travel to customer sites, other hirify.global offices, and tradeshows.

What you will do

• Develop and optimize sample preparation methods for environmental and food testing applications, including PFAS, pesticides, mycotoxins, PAHs, PCBs, oil and grease, and other regulated or emerging contaminants.
• Create application notes, white papers, posters, blogs, protocols, and presentations supporting customer workflows and commercial campaigns.
• Support customers through troubleshooting, workflow optimization, product demonstrations, and training.
• Work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, customer service, and R&D teams to align workflows and strategies.
• Deliver presentations, training sessions, and workshops at scientific meetings, tradeshows, and for internal teams.
• Provide technical expertise, gather customer and collaborator insights, and recommend uses for hirify.global products in new markets and application areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, food science, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in method development, application development, or customer support for environmental, food, agricultural, or applied testing laboratories.
• Hands-on experience with analytical sample preparation and complex matrices such as water, wastewater, soil, food, and agricultural products.
• Experience with LC/MS or GC/MS workflows; LC/MS/MS, LC-HRMS, GC/MS, or GC/MS/MS experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental and food testing workflows involving PFAS, pesticides, mycotoxins, PAHs, PCBs, oil and grease, SVOCs, or other regulated and emerging contaminants.
• Ability to create clear scientific content, communicate technical information, support customers, and collaborate across functions.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Ph.D.
• Experience with SPE, SLE, QuEChERS, cleanup, evaporation, and automation.
• Familiarity with EPA, FDA, and ISO requirements.
