Lead of ML Data Operations (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco. Applicants must be eligible to work in the US.

Salary: $300K – $360K + Equity

What you will do

• Source, evaluate, and manage relationships with external data labeling vendors from scoping through contracts and quality oversight.
• Partner with ML researchers to define data requirements and develop concrete plans to meet them.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to identify opportunities for improved in-product data collection.
• Build the team, systems, and processes that make data sourcing a reliable and repeatable capability.
• Lead a new function from the ground up, contributing to a data-driven model development culture.

Requirements

• 6–8+ years of experience in ML data operations, training data, or data labeling programs.
• Demonstrated leadership at a director or equivalent level, with a track record of building new teams or functions.
• Direct experience managing external labeling vendors or building internal labeling systems.
• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in ambiguous environments.
• Strong cross-functional instincts across Research, Product, and Engineering.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.

Nice to have

• Background at a foundational model company or data labeling organization.
• Experience influencing product feature design to facilitate training data collection.
• Familiarity with music, audio, or creative AI.
