Building Engineer

TL;DR

Building Engineer (HVAC/Electrical): Maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical installations with an accent on routine maintenance and tenant service requests. Location: 100% in-office in Washington, DC

Salary: $33 - $36 per hour

What you will do

• Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Address tenant service requests, including hot/cold calls and lighting repairs.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and equipment performance logs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA safety regulations.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to system emergencies or severe weather outages.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of job-related experience or equivalent trade certification.
• Engineering and trade licenses required per local, state, or national regulations.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook and mobile work order systems.

Nice to have

• CFC Certification.
• Familiarity with BAS (Building Automation Systems) operation and troubleshooting.
