Staff Software Engineer (React)

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (React/Next.js): Leading the technical direction and architecture of the MyAccount platform to manage customer identity and digital experiences at scale with an accent on scalable APIs, system reliability, and secure customer identity. Focus on driving architectural alignment across multiple teams, optimizing performance, and mentoring senior engineers.

Location: Hybrid: Must report onsite at Mountain View, CA or Austin, TX at least three times per week

Salary: $160,200 – $246,300

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex web and platform capabilities for the MyAccount ecosystem.
• Drive technical strategy and architectural alignment across multiple teams, services, and stakeholder groups.
• Develop web applications using Next.js, React frameworks, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Design and develop APIs that enable core business capabilities and support long-term platform evolution.
• Improve system reliability, scalability, performance, and observability across the platform.
• Mentor and coach engineers across levels, including senior engineers, through design reviews and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software development, focusing on customer-facing web applications at scale.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and test automation.
• Proven ability to drive technical direction and influence architectural decisions across team boundaries.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Austin, TX or Mountain View, CA.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future (H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, etc.).

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with customer identity, authentication, account management, or security-sensitive systems.
• Experience modernizing platforms and reducing technical complexity across large product surfaces.
• Track record of influencing technical roadmaps with broad organizational impact.
