What you will do

• Translate business and product requirements into detailed technical specifications, system designs, and user stories for engineering teams.
• Analyze system dependencies, data models, and API integrations to ensure technical feasibility and architectural alignment.
• Act as a key liaison between Payments Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and Compliance to drive delivery.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on payment processing, messaging standards (ISO 20022), and clearing networks.
• Coordinate annual scheme attestations, audits, and evidence collection to meet regulatory and operational standards.
• Drive Agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban), manage the technical backlog, and resolve implementation blockers.

Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a technical business analyst or systems analyst in a payments or fintech environment.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, system architecture, APIs, and data modeling.
• Deep knowledge of payment processing, transaction lifecycles, and ISO 20022 messaging standards.
• Proven track record of bridging the gap between highly technical engineering teams and non-technical business partners.
• Practical experience with Agile operating models, Jira, and Confluence.

Nice to have

• Prior experience as a software developer or systems engineer.
• Familiarity with UK domestic payment rails (FPS, CHAPS, BACS) and scheme attestations.
• Experience with payment vendors (e.g., Finastra GPP, Volante, Fircosoft) or AWS cloud-native architectures.
• Understanding of payment regulations (PSD2/PSD3, Open Banking) and AML/sanctions screening.
