Journalist (Broadcast News)

Location: Salford, United Kingdom; based at MediaCity with a 12:00–22:00 shift pattern four days a week.

Salary: £27,600–£34,000 per year, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

hirify.global Local’s Central Team supports a network of 39 local radio stations and produces online news, sport, and data journalism content.

What you will do

• Produce and present weekday evening news bulletins for hirify.global Local Radio stations.
• Write and deliver accurate, engaging news content to tight deadlines.
• Report live on breaking news and major events while remaining calm and responsive.
• Produce audio content using clips and creative storytelling techniques.
• Work with colleagues across local radio, regional, national news, and planning teams.
• Contribute ideas and help deliver major stories, moments, and guests across hirify.global Local.

Requirements

• Substantial experience working as a journalist in a live or fast-paced environment.
• Proven experience preparing and reading news bulletins with a confident, professional broadcast voice.
• Strong writing skills, editorial judgement, and experience covering breaking news or major events.
• Multi-platform collaboration experience and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Working knowledge of media law and hirify.global editorial guidelines.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom is checked before employment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of hirify.global products such as hirify.global News Online or hirify.global Sounds.
• Experience working with national news and planning teams to create high-impact content.
