What you will do

  • Lead the full lifecycle of state lending and MLO license acquisition, including application preparation and submission across target jurisdictions.
  • Design and manage end-to-end processes for maintaining licenses and ensuring timely renewals and NMLS filings.
  • Oversee MLO licensing, registration, onboarding/offboarding workflows, and continuing education tracking.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for state regulatory examinations, leading preparation, response, and remediation efforts.
  • Develop standardized compliance playbooks for annual state reporting obligations (MCRs, MSRs).
  • Establish foundational infrastructure, KPIs, and vendor relationships to scale the licensing function.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in mortgage or consumer lending licensing and compliance.
  • Proven track record of obtaining corporate state lending licenses in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Deep working knowledge of NMLS and multi-state regulatory frameworks.
  • Direct experience preparing for and responding to state regulatory examinations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a program or function from the ground up.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US and be based in the USA.
