Location: Must be based in the United Kingdom. Hybrid with anchor days in London or fully remote within the UK.

What you will do

• Manage and improve a fleet of clusters running hundreds of instances across multiple regions.
• Develop in Golang and use Terraform and Nomad for infrastructure provisioning and workload management.
• Work with virtual filesystems, Linux primitives, and low-level virtualization.
• Ensure the reliability and performance of the compute platform through ownership and on-call coverage.
• Collaborate across teams to converge compute services within Vercel.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably with Golang.
• Deep expertise with virtual machines, file systems, and Linux (e.g., tcpdump, strace, iptables).
• Proven experience building and operating distributed systems at scale for performance and reliability.
• Experience with orchestrators like Nomad or Kubernetes for containerised and non-containerised workloads.
• Must be located within the United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Experience with low-level virtualization or sandbox execution environments.
• Product engineering experience with a focus on developer-facing impact.
• Experience with on-call operations for large-scale distributed systems.
