Emergency Medical Responder

TL;DR

Emergency Medical Responder (EMS): Provide timely non-emergency and emergency transportation between appropriate facilities with an accent on safe patient care, professional communication, and accurate documentation. What you will do

• Deliver patient care during non-emergency transport, maintaining skills in line with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP).
• Safely operate MHS-West vehicles and respond at the start of each shift while maintaining vehicles in a state of readiness.
• Work in hazardous environments, including lifting/moving heavy patients and extricating patients when needed.
• Complete fully documented patient care reports (ePCRs) and maintain patient confidentiality per provincial and federal regulations.
• Coordinate with outside agencies and follow the MHS-West chain of command.
• Participate in education and quality assurance activities, including the MHS-West Quality Assurance Program.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Alberta Operators License (Class 1, 2, or 4).
• Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics and completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs.
• Certified in and maintaining CPR certification.
• FARE Certificate required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding duties (lifting/moving heavy patients and extrication) without impairing disabilities.
