Java Backend Developer (Fintech)

What you will do

• Design and develop backend services for a new strategic Employee Permissions application from scratch.
• Develop APIs supporting team, role, and functional-scope permissions.
• Model complex business concepts including employee-to-asset assignments and hierarchical client access.
• Implement integrations with bank-wide components such as Active Directory, One Identity, and access rules engines.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code while performing code reviews and reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Frontend Developers, and Architects in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of industry experience in Java backend development.
• Strong proficiency in core server-side Java, Spring Boot, and Spring modules (Web, Data, Security).
• Experience with relational databases, specifically Oracle and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Azure DevOps, Maven, and Linux environments.
• Proficiency in automated testing using JUnit and/or Cucumber.
• English: Advanced spoken and written (C1) required.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Bucharest, Romania.

Nice to have

• Experience with IAM, RBAC/ABAC, One Identity, or entitlement-management systems.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, or cloud-native deployments.
• Experience with messaging technologies and protocols.
• Familiarity with Wholesale Banking, lending, sales, or KYC processes.
• Openness to work with Python or other scripting languages.
