Salary: $100,000 – $180,000 per year

What you will do

• Investigate and evaluate root causes of failures in HVAC, MEP, building management systems (BMS), and building automation systems (BAS).
• Assess mechanical failures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
• Perform fieldwork, including working in confined spaces and at heights.
• Write detailed, defensible technical reports to provide clear conclusions for clients.
• Provide expert witness testimony and maintain high levels of customer service.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Michigan (or eligible by reciprocity).
• 5-10 years of experience designing or working with mechanical equipment and HVAC/MEP systems.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.
• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane.

Nice to have

• At least 5 years of specific forensic engineering experience.
• Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• CFI (IAAI) and/or CFEI (NAFI) certifications.
• Additional active PE licensures in states surrounding Michigan.
