TL;DR

Machine Learning Lead Programmer (AI): Building scalable backend services and data infrastructure for AI products with an accent on cloud-native AWS systems and large-scale data pipelines. Focus on developing AI agents to increase developer productivity and deploying ML models in production.

Location: Hybrid in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On-site presence is expected at the start; hybrid arrangement (3 days office, 2 days home) can be agreed later. Fully remote is not offered.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs for machine-learning and AI features.
• Build and operate large-scale data pipelines for ingesting and processing big datasets.
• Deploy, serve, and scale ML models in production, including inference, embeddings, and vector search.
• Design and operate cloud infrastructure on AWS to ensure reliability, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Manage data storage across relational and vector/search stores.
• Build CI/CD, observability, and automated testing for backend systems.

Requirements

• Around 4+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with big-data processing at scale and serving ML models.
• Solid grounding in APIs, microservices, containerization, and monitoring.
• Must be based in or able to work from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
• Required: Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Codex CLI, GitHub Copilot).
• English: Excellent written and spoken proficiency (C1).

Nice to have

• Experience in game development.
• Experience with GitLab, Horde, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
