What you will do

• Define and own the quality engineering strategy and roadmap across all products.
• Remain hands-on by writing automated tests and building framework components for roughly 50% of your time.
• Select test automation tooling and frameworks and establish standards for product squads.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps.
• Establish quality gates and risk-based testing approaches to protect critical user flows.
• Hire, coach, and grow a team of automation engineers while raising testing discipline.

Requirements

• 7+ years in software quality or engineering, including 3+ years leading and growing engineers.
• Proven track record of building or significantly maturing a test automation practice.
• Current hands-on coding ability with modern tools like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Must be based in Canada or the USA.
• Sound judgement on AI-assisted testing tools and experience evaluating LLM features.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Claude and Claude Code.
• Prior background as an SDET or automation engineer.
• Experience in regulated or high-reliability domains (e.g., utilities, fintech, healthcare).
