Research Infrastructure Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Manage and maintain Linux-based servers and specialised research infrastructure outside the scope of central ICT services.
• Maintain access controls and security, troubleshoot complex issues, and recover data when required.
• Support research facilities such as InsyghtLab, including hardware, software, audio-visual, and sensing equipment.
• Deploy and manage project-specific servers, cloud virtual machines, GPU infrastructure, and AI-related platforms.
• Provide rapid technical support during demonstrations, teaching activities, and examinations.
• Coordinate infrastructure requests with researchers, research engineers, HPC specialists, data engineers, and central ICT services while maintaining technical documentation and asset inventories.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Linux system administration in complex technical environments.
• Solid knowledge of networking, firewalls, system security, and access management.
• Ability to develop automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
• Experience with database administration, backup strategies, and data recovery processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and coordination skills, including the ability to work under time pressure with technical and non-technical users.
• An MSc degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

• 36–40 hours per week on a temporary one-year contract with prospect of a permanent position.
• Salary of €3,546–€5,538 gross per month based on a full-time 38-hour contract.
