TL;DR

FPGA Engineer (Radar): Building the foundation for next-generation radar capabilities by translating sensing algorithms into production-ready FPGA implementations with an accent on high-throughput data movement and signal processing. Focus on designing efficient FPGA architectures, optimizing for latency and resource utilization, and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Location: Hybrid in Hoffman Estates, IL. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Compensation: $150,000–$200,000

MatrixSpace develops AI-enabled radar and sensing systems that provide situational awareness in challenging environments by combining advanced radar, edge computing, and AI.

What you will do

  • Design and develop FPGA architectures and high-throughput data paths for radar sensing systems.
  • Develop and integrate vendor and custom IP, including SPI, AXI, DMA, FIFOs, and streaming pipelines.
  • Translate radar and signal processing algorithms into efficient FPGA implementations.
  • Debug and optimize designs for timing, resource utilization, throughput, and latency.
  • Partner with RF, embedded, and software engineers to define interfaces and performance targets.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship on FPGA design and implementation.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience developing FPGA-based systems for radar, RF, or high-speed signal processing.
  • Strong RTL development skills using System Verilog, Verilog, VHDL, or HLS.
  • Experience with modern AMD/Xilinx or Intel FPGA platforms and vendor IP integration.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed data movement, memory interfaces, and clock-domain crossings.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, or Radar Systems.
  • Experience with modern radar architectures like MIMO, phased arrays, FMCW, or pulse-Doppler.
  • Experience with embedded Linux, FPGA/software co-design, or device drivers.
