What you will do
- Lead the development of application software requirements for safety-critical, real-time operating systems in coordination with systems engineering.
- Design and implement fault-tolerant flight software for the overall command and control of autonomous space vehicles.
- Direct the development of subsystem applications and establish integrated vehicle autonomous behaviors, modes, and states.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers in software development practices and lead code reviews.
- Oversee software integration, unit testing, and validation within simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments.
- Partner with product managers to identify technical risks, maintain schedules, and manage resource allocation.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or equivalent experience.
- Proven software development skills in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
- Significant experience defining low-level software structure, inter-process communication, and scheduling.
- Thorough knowledge of safety-critical software standards such as NPR 7150.2 or DO-178.
- Advanced debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary.
- U.S. citizenship, permanent residency (Green Card), or lawful asylum/refugee status is strictly required.
Nice to have
- 8+ years of software development experience in real-time embedded systems.
- Expertise with Embedded Linux or equivalent real-time operating systems.
- Experience managing integrated hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) lab environments.
- Proven track record working on avionics, satellite, or space flight systems.
