Postdoctoral Researcher (Immunotherapy): Establishing in vitro reprogramming and differentiation systems for modelling leukaemia-immune interactions and CAR T-cell function with an accent on CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and single-cell multiomics. Focus on identifying cellular and molecular determinants of therapeutic response to improve outcomes in pediatric leukaemia.

Location: Based in Milan, Italy. Relocation support is provided.

What you will do

• Develop and apply cellular models to study CAR T–tumour interactions using CRISPR/Cas9 and molecular biology approaches.
• Design and perform flow cytometry-based immunophenotyping and functional assays to characterize T-cell activation and cytotoxicity.
• Generate high-quality functional and single-cell datasets to uncover mechanisms of therapeutic response and resistance.
• Collaborate with computational biologists and clinical partners at UCL and Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesu.
• Contribute to scientific manuscripts, grant applications, and translational studies.

Requirements

• PhD in immunology, hematology, molecular biology, stem cell biology, or gene therapy (completed by September 7, 2026).
• Strong experience in CAR T-cell biology, cellular immunotherapy, or leukemia research.
• Hands-on proficiency with multicolor flow cytometry, including immunophenotyping and cell sorting.
• Expertise in molecular biology, vector biology, and mammalian cell culture.
• Must be based in or able to relocate to Milan, Italy.

Nice to have

• Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering or other genetic perturbation approaches.
• Ability to generate or interpret single-cell and multiomic datasets.
• Background in tumor immunology or stem cell biology.
• Demonstrated productivity in translational research with first-author publications.
