TL;DR
Senior Accountant - Accounting Services (SAP): Maintaining the accuracy and completeness of general-ledger and financial-reporting activities for retail businesses with an accent on month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliations, and offshore team oversight. Focus on SAP ERP implementation, transitioning accounting processes, resolving complex accounting issues, and improving process standardisation.
Location: Hybrid in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide, with 3 days per week in the office

operates Australian retail, hospitality and drinks businesses including Dan Murphy’s, BWS, ALH Hotels and Pinnacle Drinks.
What you will do
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and deliver timely Record to Report activities.
- Manage month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, reporting packages and OneStream submissions.
- Provide technical accounting guidance for complex retail activities and oversee selected high-risk balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Support SAP ERP testing, defect management, post-go-live enhancements and new finance processes.
- Transition accounting knowledge and processes to the offshore team, providing direction, coaching and capability development.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation, simplification, standardisation and process optimisation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in finance, shared services or global business services.
- Experience with retail accounting activities, business partnering, influencing and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Great Plains or Dynamics 365.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA or CIMA.
- Experience with process optimisation, change management and embedding new capabilities.
- Ability to work from Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide with 3 days in the office.
Nice to have
- Experience working with an offshore or outsourced shared-services delivery model.
- Experience delivering finance technology programmes, including SAP ERP implementations.
- Experience with retail-related accounting activities.
