Associate Engineer

TL;DR

What you will do

• Ship clean, reliable production code that teammates can confidently build on.
• Break down rough requirements into working features by asking sharp questions and closing the loop quickly.
• Write and run tests as a normal part of delivering features to catch bugs early.
• Investigate and fix difficult issues by identifying root causes and raising blockers early.
• Improve team quality through honest code reviews and early risk warnings.
• Expand capabilities each sprint by learning new languages, frameworks, cloud services, and AI-assisted tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (including military experience).
• 1–2 years of software development experience via job, internship, co-op, bootcamp, or substantial projects.
• Working fluency in at least one modern language: Java, Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Go.
• Hands-on experience with Git and version control in a shared codebase.
• Strong testing mindset: write and validate tests to ensure work holds up in production.
• Clear communication and a learning mindset; willingness to travel 0–10% as engagement needs require.

Nice to have

• Exposure to backend or frontend frameworks (Spring, FastAPI, ASP.NET, React, Angular).
• Familiarity with APIs and RESTful/service-oriented patterns.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Docker, Jenkins).
• Experience with relational or NoSQL data stores (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).
• Curiosity about AI-assisted development and modern engineering tools.
