Cost Engineer (Automotive)

Cost Engineer (Automotive): Managing and developing accurate cost estimates for automotive components with an accent on wire harnesses, connectors, and manufacturing process analysis. Focus on building bottom-up should-cost models, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and partnering with purchasing teams to ensure competitive component pricing.

Location: Must be based in Toluca, Mexico. This role is hybrid, requiring on-site presence at least 3 times a week.

What you will do

• Develop and manage detailed should-cost models for automotive components including wire harnesses and connectors.
• Analyze large datasets to identify cost drivers and propose actionable cost reduction recommendations.
• Partner with the internal purchasing team to provide fair and competitive component pricing.
• Support the assigned engineering team from a tooling and piece price perspective.
• Collaborate with suppliers through occasional domestic travel to facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in automotive cost estimation, manufacturing, or procurement.
• Strong background in automotive component cost modeling and bill of materials structures.
• English: Advanced proficiency required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Mexico as GM does not provide immigration sponsorship.
• Proficiency in Excel and Office tools.
