What you will do

• Define and communicate a technical vision for scalable, performant backend architecture.
• Guide the team through complex migrations, such as rewriting large-scale custom middleware.
• Partner with Product Leads to balance business features with technical debt reduction.
• Mentor and coach backend engineers to simplify system complexity and advance their careers.
• Lead hiring and onboarding efforts for the engineering unit.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for backend architecture, API schemas, and integration contracts.

Requirements

• Proven track record of executing Strangler Fig migrations or similar legacy-to-modern shifts.
• Deep experience with high-volume data pipelines, normalization, and message queues like SQS or RabbitMQ.
• Strong experience in dismantling over-engineered custom frameworks in favor of maintainable patterns.
• Ability to manage complex project timelines within fast-paced e-commerce environments.
• Expert mindset regarding logging, tracing, and monitoring for system visibility.
• Passionate about people development and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
