Design Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Design Engineer (React/TypeScript): Building high-craft product experiences for a financial infrastructure platform with an accent on the intersection of design and front-end engineering. Location: Hybrid in New York, NY. Must be based in NYC or open to relocate to NYC.

Salary: $172K – $440K

What you will do

• Own key product surfaces end-to-end, from initial concept through to production shipping.
• Develop interactive prototypes in React and TypeScript for direct customer validation.
• Leverage LLMs, Cursor, and Claude Code to scaffold components and refactor code efficiently.
• Extend the design system to create reusable, brand-aligned components and patterns.
• Design patterns that clearly communicate AI and automation actions to users to earn trust.
• Ensure high standards of performance, accessibility, and adherence to Core Web Vitals.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience across both design and front-end engineering.
• Fluency in React, TypeScript/JavaScript, semantic HTML, and modern CSS.
• Active use of AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code to achieve high-quality output.
• Portfolio demonstrating high visual and interaction craft in live experiences or prototypes.
• A systems mindset with interest in building reusable component libraries.
• Must be based in NYC or open to relocate to NYC.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to a design system or front-end component library.
• Background in fintech, B2B SaaS, or other trust-heavy domains.
• Familiarity with headless CMS, design tokens, or theming systems.
• Experience with experimentation or analytics tools.
