Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: On-site in Roseville, CA, USA, or at the Arista headquarters in Santa Clara, CA; remote applicants must be willing to relocate to a commutable distance.

Total estimated annual compensation: $260,000–$470,000, including base salary, bonus, and equity. Base salary: $162,000–$225,000.

What you will do

• Design next-generation networking modules and chassis while balancing structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, and schedules.
• Develop Creo 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, critical dimensions, and prototype-ready 3D files.
• Manage peer and cross-functional design reviews and collaborate with electrical engineers and PCB layout teams.
• Create BOMs and manage product releases and changes using Agile product lifecycle management tools.
• Provide models for thermal simulations and support PCB, airflow, and cooling design activities.
• Validate prototypes in the lab, resolve DFM and production issues with contract manufacturers and suppliers, and travel to suppliers when required.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering and at least 7 years of experience.
• Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft- and hard-tooling guidelines.
• Experience designing cosmetic and non-cosmetic plastic parts.
• Experience with ECO, BOM, and deviation processes.
• Fluent English required.
• Ability to lift more than 50 pounds and work on-site in California or relocate there.

Nice to have

• Mechanical design experience with computer or network equipment for data centers.
• Experience with PTC Creo, Mechanica, PDMLink, or Windchill.
• Experience with thermal simulation, airflow testing, liquid cooling, and shock, vibration, or EMC testing.
