Senior Mechanical Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical Design): Mechanical design of the next module or next chassis for high-port-count networking switches with an accent on structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, tolerances, and documentation. Focus on implementing designs in Creo 3D CAD, producing BOM/ECO/PDMLink-related deliverables, coordinating cross-functional and peer reviews, and validating prototypes through lab testing with some supplier travel.

What you will do

• Design the next module or chassis for networking switches, balancing structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, and documentation.
• Implement selected designs in Creo 3D CAD and deliver drawings, critical function dimensions, and 3D files for prototyping and manufacturing.
• Run and participate in peer and cross-functional design reviews; manage BOM structure and product release/change using PLM tools (Agile).
• Provide 3D models for thermal simulations and create PCB design drawings/3D files for the ECAD team; coordinate placement and validate final PCB design.
• Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers on DFM concerns; support prototype validation in the lab and communicate manufacturing issues.
• Perform lab debugging of design issues and resolve production-sustaining issues in cross-functional meetings; travel to suppliers as needed.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering plus 7 years’ experience.
• Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment for data center operation.
• Experience with ECO, BOM, and Deviation processes (Agile experience is a plus).
• Fluent English.
• Ability to lift weight upwards of 50 pounds.

• Base salary range: $162,000 to $225,000; total estimated annual compensation range (base + bonus + equity): $260,000 to $470,000.
