Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Base salary: $121,000–$170,000 per year, plus annual bonus or commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable software for real-time market data platforms.
• Build and optimize APIs and data processing pipelines for high-volume, distributed, and multi-tenant systems.
• Develop production-grade microservices and containerized applications using cloud-native architectures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams in Bangalore, Toronto, and other global locations on architecture and delivery.
• Define technical specifications and contribute to early product and platform decisions.
• Evaluate technology trends and improve data streaming products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Core Java expertise.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, containerized applications, and distributed systems.
• Experience building and deploying production-grade systems with microservices and container orchestration platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including translating business requirements into technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar event-driven and stream-processing technologies.
• Familiarity with parallel computing or stream-processing frameworks.
• Experience with high-volume, low-latency, and highly available systems.
