Junior Deployment Engineer (Border Control)

Location: Reading, United Kingdom. Hybrid: Work from home up to 2 days/week

What you will do

• Install, configure, and commission border control systems including eGates, kiosks, and biometric devices.
• Integrate hardware with backend servers, network infrastructure, and security components.
• Configure application software, databases, and middleware under supervision.
• Perform functional and performance tests, including biometric enrolment and document reader accuracy.
• Troubleshoot first-line hardware and software issues and apply system patches.
• Prepare deployment documentation and technical reports according to SOPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Windows Server.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) or containerization (Docker).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS, etc.).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Ansible) and cloud platforms (Azure).
• Basic networking and database (SQL/NoSQL) knowledge.

Nice to have

• Experience with government IT systems or border control technology.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and sensitive data handling.
