What you will do

• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative solutions to improve service performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Write high-quality distributed system software for the AWS network backbone and related platforms.
• Extend platforms that support software-defined networks (SDN) and deliver containerized solutions protecting the AWS network.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to roll out new designs/products and sustain networking software tools.
• Use data to measure success, prevent faults from impacting customers, and contribute to process documentation.
• Participate in an on-call rotation (typically one week every two months) and handle critical events as needed.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications/tools/systems/services.
• Experience with C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Ability to work in a hybrid team and support 24x7 on-call responsibilities, including driving into the workplace for critical events.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
