Director, Engineering (AI Engineering): Leading the Engineering Acceleration organization to rethink the entire engineering toolchain as agentic-native with an accent on AI-driven quality, automated verification, and developer velocity. Focus on designing platforms where AI agents are first-class participants in software development and humans set direction and supervise.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from the San Mateo, CA headquarters (Hybrid: Onsite Tue-Thu)

What you will do

• Reimagine the engineering toolchain as agentic-native, designing platforms and feedback loops for AI agents to safely drive operational work.
• Set technical direction for AI-driven quality, including agent-generated tests and automated coverage.
• Make software quality and SEV prevention a measurable platform property through safe-change mechanisms and automated verification.
• Drive down operational toil by transforming manual tasks into self-serve or agent-driven workflows.
• Own and drive the roadmap, aligning cross-pod plans and execution against company goals.

Requirements

• Experience leading and growing engineering teams, including managing managers or senior ICs.
• Strong technical depth in backend, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Track record delivering internal developer platforms, CI/CD, or deployment systems at scale.
• Strong point of view on AI/agentic tooling and hands-on familiarity with the modern AI engineering stack.
• Demonstrated cross-organizational collaboration and communication skills.
• Must have current United States work authorization (no H-1B sponsorship available for this role).

Nice to have

• Backend proficiency in C# and/or Go.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes/Nomad (Hashistack), Temporal, and AWS.
• Hands-on experience applying AI/agents to engineering workflows and incident prevention.
