Sr. Installation Technician

TL;DR

Sr. Installation Technician (AV/Low Voltage): Perform complex technology installations in client buildings, including interpreting drawing packages and executing cabling, mounting, and fiber optic work with an accent on independent onsite decision-making, QC compliance, and mentoring/leading crews. Focus on advanced system installation, troubleshooting, and coordinating field operations when no dedicated on-site superintendent is available.

What you will do

• Lead and delegate installation tasks to install crews, subcontractors, and union trades on large projects.
• Interpret drawing packages and cable riser diagrams to install complete AV/technology systems (displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, etc.).
• Perform advanced cabling terminations and verify terminations to company standards; generate cable labels and manage wire listing.
• Handle advanced fiber optic cable installation, termination, repair, and testing.
• Build and wire custom panels from engineering drawings; prepare equipment racks for staging (power strips, grounding bars, jack-fields, etc.).
• Oversee field operations and ensure work complies with hirify.global and client QC standards; provide daily feedback and maintain accurate project time records.

Requirements

• Associates/Bachelors degree required and/or equivalent experience; 5+ years as an installation technician or related industry experience.
• AVIXA CTS certification required; AVIXA CTS-I highly desired.
• AVIXA/OSHA safety requirements: OSHA 30 certificate required (NYC OSHA 30 preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with insurance requirements; use of own vehicle for local travel.
• Strong technical skills: familiarity with audio/video and networking equipment, low-voltage electrical concepts, advanced carpentry/installation, and safe power tool use.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems; good verbal communication and customer service skills.
