TL;DR
Quality Engineer (Manufacturing Quality): Developing engineering solutions that drive continuous improvement in Safety, Uptime, and Quality across a highly automated three-shift manufacturing operation with an accent on early issue identification, corrective action tracking, and statistical analysis of reject/defect data. Focus on verifying compliance to quality requirements and leading change management to ensure product quality is maintained through manufacturing and into the field.
Location: Rochester, New York (onsite, full-time). GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship.
Salary: $69,900 - $107,300 (base compensation). Bonus potential available.

What you will do
- Develop engineering solutions to improve Safety, Uptime, and Quality through continuous improvement.
- Use manufacturing data to identify process conditions, summarize reject/defect trends, and drive corrective actions.
- Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data and support statistical process control.
- Lead change management activities to ensure changes do not negatively affect product quality.
- Verify compliance with quality requirements and procedures; coordinate information with internal and external customers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Process, Product, and Mechanical/Controls Engineering; be flexible to work extended/non-core hours when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent).
- Experience with Quality System methods such as PPAP, AIAG, APQP, or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and assess complex engineering issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical software (QDAS preferred).
- Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (Six Sigma, RedX, Shainin, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA) and entry-level proficiency in 3D CAD (Solidworks).
Nice to have
- Knowledge of PPAP and Statistical Process Control (SPC), containment, and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Lean Six Sigma belt certification or problem-solving certification.
- Understanding of ISO/IATF quality requirements.
- SQL/database knowledge.
- 2+ years of manufacturing environment experience.
