Security Operations Intern (AI)

Security Operations Intern (AI): Supporting the design, build, and maintenance of automated incident response playbooks and decision engines with an accent on cloud security and AI-augmented development. Focus on bridging software scripting with incident response to defend production cloud environments.

Location: Must be based in or able to work from the Galway office on a hybrid basis (2-3 days per week)

What you will do

• Assist in building and optimizing automated incident response playbooks for alert containment and remediation.
• Write and maintain Python scripts, infrastructure-as-code, and webhooks to link alerting pipelines with cloud infrastructure.
• Leverage generative AI coding assistants to document, debug, and optimize automated security workflows.
• Help design and execute automated tabletop exercises and simulated attack campaigns to test cloud resilience.
• Audit security automation logic to prevent failures caused by cloud API updates or environmental changes.

Requirements

• Must be a student eligible for a work placement module.
• Must be available for a full-time internship from mid-January to the end of August 2027.
• Must be able to work from the Galway office on a hybrid basis.
• Strong desire to pursue a career in Cyber Security, specifically Cloud Security Operations or Incident Response.
• Basic experience or coursework in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Foundational familiarity with cloud infrastructure platforms, specifically AWS.
