TL;DR

Senior Lawyer (Fintech): Providing legal advice and navigating legal risk for the Consumer Relationships and UK Private Banking business areas with an accent on regulatory compliance and customer outcomes. Focus on advising on new products, digital propositions, and ensuring alignment with Payment Services Regulations and Consumer Duty.

Location: Hybrid (Must spend at least 40% of time at one of the hub sites: Bristol, Cardiff, Chester, Edinburgh, Halifax, or Leeds)

Salary: £114,606 – £134,830

What you will do

  • Advise on Consumer Relationships and UK Private Banking (UKPB) initiatives, including new products, services, and digital propositions.
  • Support transformation projects to deliver structural changes to products and services.
  • Shape and influence strategy regarding legal, regulatory, and industry changes, with a specific focus on UKPB.
  • Facilitate new partnerships with third parties to expand customer offerings beyond traditional banking.
  • Provide high-quality legal expertise and commercial advice to internal stakeholders, including business platform teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, industry peers, and external legal counsel.

Requirements

  • UK qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Relevant experience in financial services, ideally within private banking.
  • Strong understanding of Payment Services Regulations and Consumer Duty.
  • Experience advising on matters under the consumer credit regime.
  • Knowledge of BCOBS, KYL/AML, and ringfencing.
  • Ability to manage a complex workload independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

  • Knowledge of cross-border lending considerations.
