What you will do

• Design and train large-scale transformer and hybrid foundation models from first principles.
• Own model architecture choices across text, multimodal, and emerging paradigms.
• Diagnose and resolve training instabilities at scale, including gradient pathologies and divergence.
• Navigate scaling tradeoffs across data, compute, and architecture using scaling laws.
• Define the technical direction for next-generation models and partner with ML systems teams.
• Design and experiment with loss functions and alignment techniques like RLHF, DPO, and GRPO.

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA
• Deep theoretical and practical understanding of modern deep learning.
• Hands-on experience training large models from scratch.
• Strong expertise in transformer internals, attention mechanisms, and distributed training strategies (FSDP, ZeRO-3).
• Ability to reason about optimization dynamics and compute/data tradeoffs.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, research-driven environments.
