Machine Learning Engineer (LegalTech): Developing advanced machine learning models and LLM-based solutions to streamline legal workflows with an accent on NLP and transformer-based architectures. Location: Must be based in Canada (excluding Quebec). If local to Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto, hybrid attendance (min. twice per week) is required.
Salary: $129,200 – $174,800 CAD

What you will do
- Develop advanced machine learning models using structured and unstructured data to improve customer experience.
- Create LLM-based solutions to drive efficiency and save time for legal professionals.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and data science teams to identify and implement new ML-driven features.
- Work in an agile environment alongside MLOps and full-stack engineers on diverse projects.
Requirements
- Must be based in Canada (excluding Quebec).
- Hands-on experience in model development, specifically with traditional ML, NLP, and transformer-based models.
- Proficiency in data manipulation, cleaning, and preprocessing for complex unstructured datasets.
- Experience with agentic frameworks and workflows.
- Experience working with open-source LLM foundation models and commercial APIs like ChatGPT or Gemini.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders.
