Internal Audit Manager

Location: Must be based in Budapest, Hungary. Frequent travel (up to 4 months per year) to various global locations is required.

What you will do

• Lead internal audit and advisory assignments at field and headquarters locations.
• Plan audit engagements, including risk assessment, scope determination, and resource allocation.
• Execute audit work using best practice techniques and digital tools, ensuring high-quality documentation.
• Prepare concise, high-quality audit reports with cost-effective recommendations.
• Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations by assurance clients.
• Manage and coach audit team members to ensure timely delivery and professional development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, accounting, risk management, or IT.
• Certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent (CPA, CA, CISA).
• 8 years of relevant work experience in internal or external auditing.
• Demonstrated experience in supervising staff.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Must be able to undertake frequent and extended travel to difficult duty stations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
• Experience working in developing countries and international development.
• Relevant experience in humanitarian or fragile settings.
