Senior Software Engineer (Embedded)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid schedule with 2 days per week onsite and frequent commuting to the London office required

Salary: GBP 76,800–115,200 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan

What you will do

• Develop core application software in modern C++ for existing and next-generation intra-operative devices.
• Expand device capabilities while maintaining code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Develop and enhance device monitoring, remote management, and cloud connectivity methods.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve issues identified through testing and support.
• Collaborate with application software, embedded, cloud platform, and other multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in security and regulatory compliance processes and develop secure-by-design medical-grade software.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2–3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Current experience writing high-quality, high-performance modern C++ code, including C++17 or newer.
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and inter-process communication frameworks such as gRPC, DDS, or Zenoh.
• Experience with deployed hardware systems, remote device management, and unit testing using TDD, Google Test, or similar frameworks.
• Ability to solve complex problems independently, reason about interconnected systems, and maintain a high standard of code craftsmanship.

Nice to have

• Experience with GUI frameworks such as React or Qt.
• Experience in regulated industries including medical devices, automotive, finance, or aerospace.
• Knowledge of AWS, systems engineering principles, and core security concepts.
