Salary: $210,000 – $250,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Design and maintain distributed cloud services on AWS to process high-volume sensor data.
• Develop device management infrastructure, including OTA firmware and software deployment pipelines.
• Build reliable, low-latency data ingestion systems for radar, AIS, and video streams.
• Define APIs and protocols bridging vessel-side edge systems and cloud analytics.
• Ensure system fault tolerance in environments with intermittent connectivity like Starlink or LTE.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to high-quality engineering standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building production distributed systems.
• Strong command of Spring Boot for microservices development.
• Deep experience with AWS services including IoT Core, Lambda, ECS/EKS, and SQS.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts like message queues and service observability.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Strong debugging skills and ability to reason across network boundaries and hardware constraints.

Nice to have

• Experience with IoT device fleets and OTA update systems.
• Familiarity with geospatial data processing or AIS signal handling.
• Background in mesh networking or low-bandwidth communication protocols.
• Experience with security-conscious design in government-adjacent environments.
